Live It Today

LIVE IT TODAY!

Recall the statement "Today is the first day of the rest of your life." Oh, so true. Today is the day that counts! Questions to ask yourself:

  • What do I want Today to mean?
  • What would I like to accomplish Today?

Believe me it really doesn't matter what you want to accomplish, just Live It Today! You will be pleasantly surprised with what is the actual accomplishment by days end. Surprised that you did little or did a lot. The key is to enjoy the day's journey as you reach the end result for Today, whatever that is to you!

Many times, we miss the journey in an all-out assault in getting to the end result.

I encourage you to take an inventory at the end of the day, giving you an opportunity to see today's awesome experiences. I trust you will come to realize that the small things are as rewarding as the large, complicated successes that took our minds, bodies and time throughout Today. The small thank you, given to a friend in need. The high five generated from a colleague you helped with a project. The joy of sitting among family enjoying quiet time. Many times, these relationships have been compromised in the quest to building a societal generated success. Not really enjoying the passion you have for life, it's caught in the turbulent whirlwind of some others idea or standard of success.

I encourage you to "LIVE IT TODAY!"

Comparison is often the wrath of our lives. Our society is full of identity blockers, the true definition of identity theft. Comparison to others, in profession, clothing, cars, etc. What becomes incandescently clear is that we NEVER match up. We never reach the mountain of expectations deemed by someone else's idea of success. LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE TODAY!

Our generation is swamped with the Identity Thieves, via social media, commercial ads, TV sponsorship, still the never-ending magazine fashion points. They all tell us how we should look, what we should wear, and when and where we can get the best results. Stolen Identity at its best. No, not my bank account, rather my soul account. Who am I?

Once I lose my identity it's tough to find it. "Life Lock" can't even help.

You will be discarded like your bank info, or personal info, once you tumble into the gapping arms of comparison. "LIVE IT TODAY."

To illustrate my point, I'd like to talk from a sports perspective. Individual players in a team sport. NFL running backs, Walter Payton, Gale Sayers, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson, and Eric Dickerson all were great FB players in their own right, they all played the game to the best of their abilities, but all different, however they all reached the same goals. Champions and HOF players. If they spent time comparing and attempting to play like the other guy, believe me they all would have come up short.

That said, I encourage you to Do You, be the best version of you today. LIVE IT TODAY!

Today is the day that counts, as close as yesterday was, it's what you do today that counts, which is the precursor to tomorrow. You will realize the distance you are putting between tomorrow and yesterday, today. The rear-view mirror is giving you only a glimpse of yesterday. While yesterday gets smaller Today becomes more apparent as you drive away from yesterday. LIVE IT TODAY!

How do I get the most out of today? ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE! The attitude that I take into the day will determine how high I rise throughout the day. My thoughts and attitude toward my journey today will definitely impact the outcome.

ACTION: Call to action, movement toward today's goal whatever that may be. That generally means we must get up and get moving in the direction of our goals. It is impossible to achieve anything without ACTION.

ADJUSTMENTS: Many things may happen through our day, some we are prepared for and some not so. The important thing is that we are able to make the necessary adjustments to garner the result we want.  Believe me Attitude and Action are needed to adapt and adjust to the situation. You will recognize that it doesn't matter how it came about, only how we weather it.

In the event of a negative situation, or one that we clearly did not have any control over, my mentor and close friend former Minnesota Vikings and AZ Cardinals Head Coach Dennis Green, would encourage us to "TAKE THE HIGH ROAD!! Don't play in the muck of life. Playing above the fray is the most positive way to get the favorable result we want."

A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.

Proverbs 10:4‭-‬5 ESV

You are closer to tomorrow with each mile today. Take what you learned from yesterday and apply it today, creating a great opportunity for success tomorrow.

DELAY only means denial if you don't do it! You denied yourself success because you procrastinated. Procrastination is a key element in denial. "I can get it done tomorrow. I can get to it later." Tomorrow and later are the culprits that align themselves with their leader, Procrastination.  When they team up, you allow them an opportunity to deny you the one thing that you wanted to accomplish.

Yes, once again the ball is in your hand. No one ever scores without the ball. "It's your thing do what you wanna do." I highly encourage you to "DO IT TODAY."
