What Happens During Your First 24 Hours at Soberman's Estate?

For many men, making the decision to enter treatment isn't the hardest part.

Walking through the front door is.

By the time most men arrive at Soberman's Estate, they've spent months—sometimes years—trying to convince themselves they could handle it on their own. They've worried about their family, their career, their reputation, and whether life could ever feel normal again. Many haven't slept well in weeks. Some are frightened. Others are simply exhausted.(672 x 480 px) - 2026-10-01T112626.754

One thing almost every man shares is the same question:

"What's going to happen when I get there?"

You Won't Be Treated Like a Patient

The moment you arrive, our goal is simple: help you exhale, relax and feel like you are in a comfortable home.

This isn't a hospital waiting room or an institutional setting. You'll be welcomed into a private estate in the quiet beauty of Cave Creek, Arizona, where hospitality is part of the healing process.

You'll be shown to your own private room with an en suite bathroom. You'll meet members of our team, not all at once, but at a pace that feels comfortable. There are no crowded intake lines or overwhelming introductions.

You've been holding everything together for everyone else. Now it's our turn to help take care of you.

First Things First: Making Sure You're Safe

Your first day is about getting to know you—not just your addiction.

Our medical and clinical teams complete a comprehensive assessment, so we understand your physical health, emotional well-being, treatment history, family dynamics, and what brought you here.

If you're arriving after detox, we'll make sure you're comfortable and medically supported. If additional medical care is needed, that comes first.

Your first day unfolds at your pace. Recovery starts with feeling safe, supported, and understood.

You're Not Just Another Admission

One of the things that makes Soberman's Estate different is that every man's treatment begins immediately as an individualized experience.

From your very first day, you'll begin creating your personal Continuum of Care Plan.

That isn't paperwork.

It's the beginning of your roadmap back to yourself.

No two men recover exactly the same way. Our job isn't to hand you someone else's recovery plan. It's to help you discover what works for you—the tools, habits, therapies, relationships, and practices that will become your own "personal insulin," as our founder Mitch Prager often describes it.

You'll Meet Men Who Understand

Many men arrive believing they're the only successful professional who has found himself in this position.

Within hours, they realize they aren't.

The men here come from different backgrounds, but many have built businesses, led companies, practiced medicine, flown airplanes, argued cases in courtrooms, raised families, or served their communities.

They understand the pressure of keeping everything together while quietly falling apart inside.

That realization—that you're no longer alone—is often one of the most healing moments of the first day.

You Can Stay Connected to Real Life

One concern we hear often is:

"What happens to my responsibilities?"

Unlike many residential treatment programs, Soberman's Estate allows clients to keep their cell phones and laptops when clinically appropriate.

Life doesn't completely stop because you choose recovery.

For many professionals, simply knowing they can stay appropriately connected reduces an enormous amount of anxiety before they ever arrive.

Your Family's Healing Begins Too

Recovery doesn't happen in isolation.

From the beginning, families become part of the process. While your first day is focused on helping you settle in, your loved ones also begin learning what recovery really looks like and how they can heal alongside you.

Soberman's Estate offers complimentary family education and support because addiction affects everyone who loves the person struggling with it.

Healing becomes possible when no one has to walk the journey alone.

There Is No Pressure to Have All the Answers

Many men worry they'll be expected to immediately open up, share everything, or somehow know exactly why they drink or use.

That's not how healing works.

Your first day isn't about fixing your life.

It's about beginning.

It's about getting your bearings, meeting people who genuinely care, eating a good meal, getting some rest, and realizing that maybe—just maybe—you don't have to fight this battle by yourself anymore.

There will be time for therapy. There will be time for difficult conversations. There will be time for the work ahead. Today is about arriving, taking a breath, and discovering that you're not going to be alone on this journey.

The First Night

By the end of the day, many men tell us they feel something they haven't felt in a long time—relief.

Not because life has suddenly become easy.

But because they've finally given themselves permission to accept help and focus on getting their life back.

That's often where recovery begins.

And sometimes, that's exactly where hope starts.
